B is for Byte
A byte is just the measurement used for memory. One byte is a unit of data made up of 8 bits, each bit being a binary digit (0 or 1).
Bytes matter purely because more bytes mean more data can be stored and your computer can run more efficiently.
Your laptop or PC will have a memory card, measured in bytes. This memory is called RAM, which is effectively like short term or working memory. It allows your computer to run applications, switch between tasks, follow commands. The more RAM you have the more efficient your computer will be.
Your hard drive capacity is also measured in bytes. This is the long term memory and storage part of your computer. The hard drive stores your operating system, all of your programs and your personal data. More bytes here also mean more efficiency and a greater running speed.
